President’s Cabinet?

I’m not the smartest fellow in the world, but I can sure pick smart colleagues.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

The President’s cabinet is not meant to be a group of political supporters, but a group of our best.  After the election is complete, we are supposed to put away our partisan politics and embrace the people’s choice of Vision.  The cabinet is a body of advisors consisting of, in each critical office, the American who is best able to advance our Vision – it’s that simple.  With this in mind and with the vision of One nation, I have begun my search to discover who would best compose this bi-partisan cabinet – to determine, regardless of political party, the American who shares the proper vision and is best qualified to perform the duties of the office in question.  I welcome any assistance.

My thoughts are:

President – ?

Vice President – ?

Secretary of the Treasury — Honorable Elizabeth Warren

Secretary of State — Honorable Jon Huntsman

Secretary of Defense – Admiral Mike Mullen (retired)

  1. I nominate the Honorable Chris Hagen for the office of President of the United States of America. If you can talk in public as a well as you can write… you would get my vote.

I would also keep Hillary Clinton around. She is tough as nails and knows her way around the hill.

Ron Paul is too old. Someone with his ideals but younger

  2. Thanks for reading, caring, and for the post Kevin. I think you may be right on Ron Paul not being our best choice as Secretary of Defense. Although he seems to be one of the few “experts” who is pushing for less US military involvement throughout the world (which I believe is the right course), he also advocates for less support and US involvement within the United Nations. I disagree with him on this point. As our founders reluctantly realized that We the People of our independent States needed a limited federal government, so too must our generation realize that We the People of our independent Countries need a limited world governing body. It is necessary to create a more perfect union of mankind.

In truth, I’ve found that evaluating the question “What role should our federal government fill?” can be investigated more thoroughly by asking oneself, “What role do you believe the UN should fill?” The parallels deserve pause — but that is a topic for a later post. To the issue at hand, who is our best choice for Secretary of Defense?

There is a recent book released about General David Petraeus called “All in” that is on my ever expanding “to read” list. I am thinking that he might be the best qualified American with the proper Vision for the US. His experience in irregular warfare, his understanding that our engagement consists of an ideological war with non-state actors, and his current station as Director of the CIA certainly make him someone to consider. I’ll take a look at David K. Johnson and you take a look at General Petraeus. For now, let’s replace Ron Paul with a ?.

As for yours truly, although my desire for us to achieve our potential is unparalleled, my desire to “run” for office is non-existent.

Also, I am fully aware that there are many more qualified than myself to lead our great nation. Although I am searching for answers, I also realize that I know nothing. But I’m beginning to wonder if that makes me more qualified than the others….

Perhaps America would be better served by a President who didn’t believe he or she knew the answers… but would we ever vote for such a candidate?
