Independent President

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” – John Quincy Adams
Not since George Washington has our President been selected outside of an established political party and platform.  But the task of the President, the role the office is meant to perform, has always been that of an Independent – this has not changed.  When we vote for President, we are not choosing which party is right, we are choosing our proper Vision forward.  The role of the President is not to push a political platform onto our people, but to push the People’s Vision onto our politicians.  The President is to provide our nation’s proper Vision to our lawmakers in Congress and to ensure their legislation is in line with that Vision.

I believe our proper Vision is not instilled in either of our political parties today.  As such, our current two-party nomination system does not allow us to select the proper person for the office of President.  If We the voters are to get our nation back on the right track, we must elect an Independent President in 2012.

“I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion.” – Thomas Jefferson

I am hopeful – I believe that 2012 is the year America wakes up and opens our eyes to the reality around us.  It is the year we re-discover our God given Vision, change our current course, and bring America back in the direction in which we were meant to travel.  The direction that stands true to the principles we were founded upon – the ones we were created to uphold.

Once we understand our proper Vision, we realize that we cannot, in good conscience, elect a President from the political parties who captain and proceed in our current direction. The longer we wait, the worse it will be… and the future will be difficult enough.  Nevertheless, the choice is ours.  We can elect an Independent President with the proper Vision, one who can unite us as one country, bring Democrats and Republicans together under one banner, our banner, and we can walk into our next chapter… or we can choose to elect a Republican or a Democrat, let nature take its course, and get dragged into the next chapter kicking and screaming.  We were meant to do the former, that is the mission of the US.

The way forward, our right answer, is not a middle ground between the two parties, it is a departure from them.  It is a new course, one only found by completely embracing each party’s view on one issue while completely dismissing each party’s view on another.  But it is also our old course, as it is the one we were destined to take since the beginning.  Until We, as one People united, turn off the auto-pilot, grab the controls, and steer our nation where it needs to go, we will continue toward bankruptcy and disaster.  It is that simple.

In 2012, America must elect an Independent President:

– a person motivated not by promises and pledges to a political party, organization, or special interest group, but by a Vision of our better destiny and a desire to bring us there.

– a person whose strength is not in standing one’s ground, but in revealing the common ground.

– a person whose cabinet is not dominated by one political party, but consists of our best and brightest from all of America.

– a person who can bring Republicans, Democrats, and Independents together as One People under one Vision of our nation’s proper course forward.

It is time for America to usher in an age of cooperation and success… it is time for America to elect an Independent President with the Vision to bring us all together as One People productively engaged in our never-ending quest to discover the best way to form a society.  Together we can, once again, lead the free world as a beacon of light, hope, and freedom to Mankind’s proper destination.

“Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us.  The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President, senators, congressman, and government officials, but the voters of this country.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt
